Sony Xperia S

The first flagship smartphone from Sony (since doing away with the Ericsson part) will be called the Sony Xperia S.

Nothing too surprising here... the Xperia range of smart phones have quite a bit of goodwill attached to them. The 'S' part of the name on the other hand, well, it must have taken their marketing department a whole 15-20 seconds to come up with.

The Sony Xperia S will include:

4.3" display of 720 x 1280 pixels
1.5 GHz dual core processor with 1GB RAM
16GB or 32GB internal memory
12 MP camera and 1.3 MP front facing camera
Android Gingerbread, but will be upgraded to ICS

It'll be available in either silver or black and should be available by the end of Q1.
